Julie L. Rogers is president of the Meyer
Foundation, which awards over $6 million annually to Washington,
DC metropolitan area nonprofit organizations that are working
to build healthy communities through health, education, neighborhood
development, justice, and arts programs. The foundation also
operates the Nonprofit Sector Advancement Fund, which operates
programs to strengthen the management capacity of its grantees.
Rogers has led the Meyer Foundation for sixteen years. She
was the founding chair (1992-1995) of Washington Grantmakers
and continues to serve on its board. Through this work she
founded two major philanthropic collaborations: the Washington
AIDS Partnership, and the Community Development Support Collaborative,
created in collaboration with the Fannie Mae Foundation. Rogers
is a director of the Greater Washington Board of Trade and
the Federal City Council and serves on the executive committee
of both organizations.
She serves on the board of Venture Philanthropy Partners,
the DC College Access Program, the advisory committee of the
DC Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the board
of the Langley School in McLean, Virginia, and she is a member
of the Washington Women’s Forum. She has been named
one of Washington DC’s “Forward Forty” by
Business Forward for the last two years. Rogers is
a leader in national philanthropic organizations: she serves
on the boards of the Council on Foundations and the Forum
of Regional Associations of Grantmakers. Previously, she served
on the board of directors of The Foundation Center. Prior
to joining the foundation in 1986, Rogers served as staff
director of the Council of the District of Columbia's Committee
on Human Services. She received a BA from Duke University
and an MA in teaching from George Washington University.
