Venture Philanthropy Partners: Investing in Social Change.

Portfolio I

In June 2000, Venture Philanthropy Partners was created. With $30 million in capital for Portfolio I, we began making long-term investments in proven nonprofits lifting up young people in the National Capital Region. The vision was to develop a network of high-performing nonprofit organizations with strong leadership at all levels: a cohort that would give the children and youth of the region the opportunity to grow into healthy, productive adults.

As part of this first portfolio, we made multi-year investments in 12 partners who are making a difference in the lives of almost 45,000 children and youth of low-income families in the areas of education, learning and healthy development.
