VPP+Raise DC Welcomes New Directors and Elects Officers During Annual Board Meeting

Washington, DC, March 19, 2021 – This week, Venture Philanthropy Partners (VPP)+Raise DC elected new members and officers to the Board of Directors (Board). New members include Catherine Buell, Head of Community Development, Amazon; Joe Del Guercio, President and CEO, A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation; Wendy Goldberg, advocate for children and Raise DC leader; Michael Smith, Executive Director, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and Director of Youth Opportunity Programs, Obama Foundation; and Stu Solomon, President & CEO, Connected DMV.

“We are fortunate that VPP+Raise DC’s Board collectively represents the breadth of expertise, talent, and perspective needed to advance our mission,” said Chairman Frank LaPrade.

“Each member of our Board shares a strong passion for creating a future where all young people have the opportunity to succeed and contribute to the productivity, health, and well-being of Greater Washington,” said VPP+Raise DC President and CEO Carol Thompson Cole.

Board Officers are Frank LaPrade, Chief Enterprise Services Officer and Chief of Staff to the CEO, Capital One, as Chairman; Cliff White, Founding Partner, NEW Customer Service Companies, as Vice Chairman; Carol Thompson Cole (Ex Officio), VPP+Raise DC, as President and CEO; Jack Davies, Founder, AOL International, as Treasurer; David Sylvester, Partner, 3rd Gen Law Group LLP, as Secretary; and Charles Redmond, Vice President, Finance and Operations, as Investment Director and Assistant Treasurer.
