CHILD AND FAMILY NETWORK CENTERS
provides free and fully accredited preschool education as well as family support, literacy, job training, and health programs to families in Alexandria, Virginia.

HEADS UP
runs after-school and summer education and enrichment programs for children living in the most under-resourced parts of Washington, DC.

[ ] AA Batteries (for the new CD players we just distributed with CharityWorks)

[ ] Educational audio CDs (again for the new CD players)

[ ] Donated retreat and training space for Heads Up full-time staff's professional development



LATIN AMERICAN YOUTH CENTER
provides academic assistance, employment, and wraparound services for low-income and at-risk youth.

[ ] Holiday gift baskets for teen mothers (includes toys, diapers, clothes) etc. (need as many as they can get)

[ ] Purchase of one semester of books (winter/spring) for a LAYC college student (about $500 per student per semester.)

[ ] We have several Youthbuild graduates who can get construction jobs but they are in the suburbs and they have no way of getting there - so the request is for a used car(s) that students can have which would enable them to get to their job site

[ ] LAYC has 12 homeless boys and boys aging out of foster care in our two residential houses - the request is for winter boots and jackets for each of these boys

[ ] LAYC has youth who want to attend summer sports camps - such as the Triple A Baseball
Camp (about $300 per summer registration).

[ ] Support one LAYC AMERICORP member for 1,700 hours of in-school educational enrichment support at one of three elementary schools ($1,500 per corps member).

[ ] Art supplies for the art and media house winter semester (50 kids at $20 per supplies for a total of $1,000).

[ ] 8 Laptop computers for 8 LAYC seniors in our Upward Bound Program who are headed to college next year.

[ ] Eye exams and glasses for approximately 100 elementary age students

[ ] Renovate the basement and install bathroom at one of the LAYC residential sites for homeless boys: LAYC needs a second bathroom in that building to accommodate the need of all of the youth residents living in the facility.



MARY’S CENTER FOR MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
is a comprehensive community health organization provides health, social, and educational services to underserved families in Washington, DC.

[ ] 10 Infant snow suits

[ ] 1 High chair

[ ] 5 Booster seats (for eating, not car)

SEE FOREVER FOUNDATION
runs the innovative Maya Angelou Public Charter School, helping at-risk and court-involved teens realize their dreams of enrolling in college or embarking on a career.

[ ] 5 Smartboards (these are the ‘portable’ screens that you can project and use more or less as a computer) for classes see www.smarttech.com: we could help w/ specs (5)

[ ] 10-20 Desktop computers to help us upgrade technology infrastructure (we could provide specs)

[ ] New cafeteria furniture for Shaw: 10-15 tables, 100 chairs

[ ] 250 (students/staff) Maya Angelou/SF sweatshirts, baseball caps, or book bags – we could provide graphics/design: these run about $10-15/person

[ ] 190 Basic calculators

[ ] 5-10 Portable CD players to give to students for high achievement

[ ] 5-10 Ipod-types for same purpose

[ ] 5 Bicycles for same purpose

[ ] Fund overnight school-wide skiing trip in January (approx $30/person x 200 student/staff) = $6,000
